“Collective Creative Practices in Southeast Asia”

This unique addition to the ANCER framework invited collectives working across the creative fields in Southeast Asia to participate in a 3-day workshop aimed at filling a fill the gap in knowledge about creative collective practices.
Some areas explored in the research camp included how the activities designed and implemented by these collective practices create a renewed understanding of “community”; methods utilised to facilitate exchanges between cultural practitioners and their respective communities; an examining of concepts of friendship and hospitality that much collective practices appear to rest on; the organizational aspects of running collectives; and an interrogation of the very idea of the meaning of “collective”.
Key invited speakers invited to introduce provocations in this two-day camp were Antariksa from KUNCI Cultural Studies Center, Yogyakarta (Indonesia) and Professor Giep Hagoort, Dean, Amsterdam School of Management. It was moderated by Dr Aleksandar Brkić (now at Goldsmiths University of London) and Dr Mitha Budhyarto from LASALLE College of the Arts.
